The Next Benchmark -Wednesday, June 26, 2019
The new Centrifuge 5910 R sets the next benchmark in versatility, capacity and user convenience. Cell harvests carried out in bottles up to 750 mL, large scale purification of DNA/RNA as well as Ficoll® gradients are just a few examples of the many areas of application served by this new centrifuge. Its new swing-bucket rotor S-4xUniversal and the universal adapters accommodate bottles, plates, and more 15 mL and 50 mL conical tubes than standard 3 Liter multipurpose centrifuges do. This speeds up your workflows and makes everyday work more efficient and enjoyable.
Greiner Bio-one has developed a system of 3D Cell Culture tools to open new dimensions and allow the processing of a 3D cell culture in a fast and easy 2D workflow. The core technology of Greiner Bio-One’s Magnetic 3D Cell Culture is the magnetization of cells with biocompatible NanoShuttle™-PL. The reproducible formation of one spheroid per well in an F-bottom plate with Cell-Repellent surface is forced by magnets either by levitation or bioprinting, to form structurally and biologically representative 3D models in-vitro. There are many advantages of the magnetic 3D cell culture (m3D) technology. This technology provides reproducible spheroid formation in a scalable 6 Well to 1536 Well format that can be performed on a flat surface optimal for high-resolution microscopy and HTS. Rapid 3D culture formation within 24 hours for most cell types and easy media changes and co-culture of different cell types. This technology is compatible with fluorescence microscopy, Western blotting, qRT-PCR, Flow Cytometry, viability assays, chemiluminescence, and the list goes on.
A recent article published in Frontiers in Genetics from a team led by senior author Professor Vivaldo Moura-Neto reviews current understanding about the interplay between hypoxia, miRNAs, stem-like cells, and cancer aggressiveness. Contributing to cancer aggressiveness is an interconnected role between microRNAs, stem-like cancer cells, and the hypoxic microenvironment. Since tumor oxygen levels play a critical role in promoting malignant progression, therapeutic resistance, and metastatic potential; cancer scientists add physiologic relevance to in vitro studies by simulating tumor hypoxia.
With the new range of Pipettes and Tips for the 384-Well Plate System this is manual pipetting into 384-well plates made easy! The new pipette/pipette tip system optimized for 384-well plates provide a high level of reproducibility and user safety. Start up to 24 reactions simultaneously. Extraordinary fine tip shape and coaxiality for safe plate maneuverings. Tedious alternate well pipetting with 8- or 12-channel pipettes is not necessary anymore with 16-/24-channel pipettes. Process complete columns or rows in just one step. Increase efficiency by 50% reduction of pipetting steps.

FaPEx is the acronym for Fast Pesticides Extraction. It’s an innovative, simple and fast method for the preparation of samples, a crucial step preceding LC/MS/MS or GC/MS/MS analysis. More than simply increasing yields of extraction, reducing time and costs associated with pesticide separation, FaPEx also scales down labour time, glassware requirements, specialised equipment and laboratory space requirement. It also significantly diminishes the amount of waste solvents and other chemicals.
