BSA has various uses in molecular biology, notably as an inert protein component to function as a stabilizer for proteins and enzymes of principal activity in solution. In such applications, BSA thus works, for example, to reduce risk of adhesion of the enzyme or other protein of interest to the reaction tube surface/wall or to the pipette surface. Thus during reactions, molecular biology grade BSA allows the enzyme or protein of interest to function properly, with minimal risk to the integrity of the protein or enzyme of interest.
